WHAT CAN YOU LEARN AT FISHERS OF KIDS PRESCHOOL
In addition to the CPH Journeys curriculum for Jesus time, we have added elements of both the A Beka curriculum (a developmentally appropriate curriculum that incorporates a Christian world view in every subject area) and preschool-level elements of the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum which is used by Wayne Elementary School. At the preschool level, the "Get Set for School" portion of the HWT curriculum uses music, movement, manipulatives, and play to teach kindergarten readiness skills including strong vocabulary, print awareness, and grammar skills along with the social, physical, and emotional skills they need. We feel excited and blessed to be able to offer these programs to our students.
Some of the things that your child can learn in the
phonics and math areas are: 3-year-olds--recognition of name, sound
and picture for short vowels and consonants; formation of vowels
and consonants in upper and lower case letters; language development
and listening skills that include color words, shapes, animals,
transportation, countries, community helpers, health, safety, manners;
science; simple counting 1-30, numbers concepts 1-15.
4-year-olds--recognition of name, sound and picture of long and
short vowels and consonants; sounding of blends and one- and two-vowel
words; reading of sentences and stories with one- and two-vowel
words; formation of letters, blends, and words; writing of first
name; learning finger plays and poems; continuing language development
and listening skills listed in 3-year-old program; number recognition
and counting 1-100, number concepts 1-20, numbers before and after
1-20, numbers largest and smallest 1-20, plus one addition facts.
As you can see, a child who attends Fishers of Kids will receive
a well-rounded, academically sound education! If you have any questions
about any area of the curriculum, please give Darlene a call (833.5199)
or our teacher, Mrs. Amy Steinmeyer (402.529.6026).
